Trademark Film's highly-acclaimed debut production is an adaptation of Dodie Smith's much-loved novel.
I Capture The Castle follows 17-year-old Cassandra Mortmain (Garai), and the fortunes of her eccentric family, struggling to survive in genteel poverty in a decaying English castle.
Cassandra's father (Nighy) is a writer who hasn't written anything in the twelve years since the spectacular success of his first novel. Her exquisite older sister Rose (Byrne) rails against their fate and hopes to marry for money. Their bohemian stepmother, Topaz (Fitzgerald) is an ex-model who likes to sunbathe naked.
Salvation seems to come in the form of their wealthy American landlord Simon Cotton (Thomas) and his brother Neil (Blucas). Although initially rejected by Simon, Rose is determined to make him fall in love with her and succeeds. A wedding is arranged and Cassandra appears left on the sidelines.
But events spiral out of control, and before the summer ends everyone's expectations will have been overturned.
I Capture The Castle is a Trademark Films and BBC Films production.
